Q: What equipment will I need with P90X?
A: You will need the P90X Chin-Up Bar and either resistance bands or dumbbells & Yoga Mat. Other equipment that helps, and I recommend particularly if you’re not all that flexible are the Yoga Blocks. You may also need PowerStands if you’d like to get a further range of motion or if you have some wrist issues. I also recommend you invest in a Heart Rate Monitor.
Q: Which did you use, the bands or dumbbells?
A: I used both, but at first I only had the B-Line Resistance Bands. I’ve lifted weights a long time and getting use to the resistance bands took a little practice, they’re very effective and great to take with you in the event you’ve got to travel and want to stay on track with your workouts.
Q: What range of dumbbells do you use?
A: I currently use the PowerBlock Elite dumbbell system that range from 5lbs to 90lbs, but started off using 5lbs to 50lbs. I also have smaller individual dumbbells 5lbs to 20lbs. My wife likes those best as they’re easier to manage, I like the smaller sized dumbbells for some of the moves as well, such as Leaning Crescent Lunges, (Core Synergistics).
Q: What do I need for ChaLEAN Extreme?
A: You’ll need the same equipment as in P90X with the exception of the Chin-Up Bar. You won’t need as heavy a set of dumbbells as you would in P90X. Again, Resistance Bands are a great way to start until you find out what size weights you’ll need.
Q: Do I need any equipment for Insanity?
A: No! Just bring you’re top cardio game as Insanity is a MONSTER! Note: You will need dumbbells if you purchase the Insanity Deluxe Package. There is a workout called Insanity Upper Body Weight Training where you’ll need dumbbells or resistance bands.
Q: Are there any other items I may need?
A: As your fitness progresses and you get more comfortable with what you like to do and or the types of workouts you enjoy as well as want to be challenged by you may need to add equipment to your “gym”. Some people will add a heavy bag or something to Punch for those workouts like KenpoX. You may also want to add a Stability Ball or Medicine Balls to change it up and or add the extra core workouts you’ll see in the One on One workouts
